We all have heard these cliché statements –

“Select for attitude, aptitude can be trained and developed”

“Watch your attitude”

“Right attitude helps you reach your altitude”

It's proven and known that success and failure are an outcome of an attitude.

Having the right attitude helps one become more aware and thus develop the correct perspectives of the stimuli and the very environment that triggers the stimuli.

As Marshal Goldsmith says – “Our response to the stimuli” is all that help you or otherwise in our aspiration to go where we want to go”

So I thought let us spend some time on reflecting together through this blog on why Attitude is Everything. And these original thoughts are borrowed from a powerful book – ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING - By Jeff Keller.

Let us look at 5 powerful lessons that I thought will help all the readers here –

LESSON 1: WASH YOUR WINDOW

In life many times what happens to the windows through which we see the world? Well.. they get splattered, smudged, smeared, soiled and clouded. The only way to see things clearly with the right perspective is wash your window. You have to do that for yourself using your wiper called the attitude. None is going to do for you

LESSON 2: DOMINANT THOUGHTS RULE THE DAY

Everyday we have many circumstances and these reflect what you have been thinking about. Choosing that one dominant thought and deciding the day is the game. So, one being conscious of all the thoughts crossing our head and choosing to use one dominant thought will help us decide our day better for self and people around us. We can choose the weather we want to spread around us emanating from our dominant thought of the day

LESSON 3: CHANGE THE MEANING OF OLD MOVIES, CREATE NEW ONES

All of us have the habit of clinging on to past incidents of our life. They become an alibi over time. When we imagine a pink elephant or an ice cream cone, we see them form a picture in our head. This is the power of imagination and visualization. Einstein says ‘imagination is more powerful than knowledge’, - this means that we all have the power to drop old movies and create new ones for a better life that we desire. We will see progress and advancement. Let us all remember that whatever got created in our life physically first got shaped in our thoughts.

LESSON 4: YOU BECOME A CHAMPION BY FIGHTING ONE MORE ROUND

Commitment and persistence are two powerful tools that help the human race thrive. Ray Kroc, Founder of McDonalds says – ‘There is nothing called talent or genius, only persistence and determination alone are omnipotent’. We all have succeeded and also failed on many grounds of our life. One who stays on after others have let go are the ones who play that one last round and emerge as a champion. So hold on in there and just do this constantly, continuously and consistently.

LESSON 5: BE A NOURISHING PERSON AND NOT A TOXIC PERSON

This is a powerful for me. We are all on planet Earth and so we are not ‘Martians’.  As long as we are on planet Earth, we will be living with huge interdependence with fellow human beings. Growth is always an outcome of synergy, collective genius, interdependency, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity of the multiple individual geniuses that is available around. In such a situation, it is only right and desirable to be that nourishing person and not a toxic one. We carry our own weather within ourselves and also transmit it around into the environment. So, let us have the right attitude to nourish and only nourish to grow together as a member of this beautiful planet.

For more such powerful lessons, please pick the book and read it.

Am sure it will make that one needle shift in your thinking.

Wishing you all stellar individuals best of efforts and attitude……
